Build Numbers · 0–99
11–19: 十 + digit. 20–99: tens digit + 十 + ones digit. For exact tens, leave out the final zero.
二 or 兩?
Use 二 (ji6) when counting, reading digits or forming 二十 (20). Before measure words for a quantity of two, use 兩 (loeng5): 兩杯奶茶, 兩碗雲吞麵.
You may also hear 廿 (jaa6) for twenty, especially in dates. Start with 二十 here.
For phone numbers, read digits one by one. This lesson uses a four-digit practice sequence, not a complete phone number.
Scene support: 你要咩呀? = What would you like? 幾多錢呀? = How much is it? 蚊 = dollars. Practise quantities with 杯 (cups) and 碗 (bowls).
